    The Week in Review

Let’s do a quick review of the most recent happenings in the news:

Michael Jackson and the circus come to LA Staples Center
US and Russia agree to disarm down to 1700 nuclear warheads in 10 years
Sarah Palin steps down as governor of Alaska as of July 27, 2009
Honduran “would-be” dictator ousted from presidency, Obama wants him back in power

Okay. Pretty popular so far this past week and so I thought I would share my thoughts on what all of this means in my world.

    Michael Jackson:
Can I say, media DELUGE! I mean, really? From the sounds of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if Rev. Al Sharpton applies for sainthood for the King of Children…I mean Pop. Sure, he was acquitted on the child pedophile case, but he still paid another off. Some suspicions? Absolutely. Whether he was guilty or not, Michael Jackson was one messed up, extremely talented individual. RIP for the good and the bad.

    US/Russia Nuclear Statement:
This has to be the biggest joke ever. It has been estimated that 10 nuclear weapons are all that are needed to cover every square inch of the 48 continuous states. 1700. Wow. But then again, I guess if we get really mad, we can blow lots of stuff up. Now, is this important? Not really. What about Iran? North Korea? Oh yeah, that would mean that we would have to get tough, and we just can’t do that because we might make someone mad at us. And Obama doesn’t like people to not like him.

    Sarah Palin Steps Down:
Important? Absolutely. Why did it happen? It’s a mystery. Though, it has been reported that she did call and talk to prominent key Republicans (Guiliani, Cheney, etc.) If it is for taking care of her huge amount of debt in showing her innocence on ethics violations and completely focus on that, then this can be a really good move. If it is simply a ploy to get back in the headlines, then yeah, it is a very bad thing. Either way, if the circus didn’t come to LA, this would be dominating all the storylines in the news (FOX or otherwise).

    Hondurans Kick Out “Would-be” Dictator:
The Hondurans decided to stand up for democracy and oust their president who was seeking loopholes to disband the government and take over as a tyrannical leader. And how does the US respond? Put him back in power! After the complete FAIL on the part of Obama to lead the charge for Iranian election fraud protests, it is really, really no surprise that our elected leader balks at a chance to defend democracy.

So, the week in review, or at least the top stories that dominated the headlines. In the future, I hope to put a more conservative spin on everything, but I needed to get back into the swing of things.

Until next time, my fellow conservatives!

Cap & Trade Passes (A dark cloud looms...)

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h5iS14YOIUrpdmPuNylwKcVpSnmAD992EOT80

Yes, the mother of all taxes passed the House of Representatives today, under the guise that it will "probably" decrease pollution. Why is it "probably" you ask? Well, because no one is quite sure just how much of an impact this will actually do for the climate.

But, let's get to the "what will it mean to me" bit. In other words, get away from the "theories" of how we're all going to die because the Earth will suddenly warm up, ice caps will melt, and we'll be eaten by polar bears (if they're still in existence, that is). Those "theories" are all things that will happen in about, a few million years, just like our sun blowing up. Makes for good television. And who says that Republicans use scare tactics? Just listen to some scientists these days (sun blowing up, meteor colliding with us, etc.). You've seen the movies Hollywood makes based on these "theories" and whatever Al Gore preaches these days.

No, "cap-and-trade" is 100% going to raise your electricity bill. The Democrats can't even deny that one. What benefit are you going to see from this? Let me think long and hard on this one. None. Unless you plan on living for millions of years.

Assuredly, your bill will increase anywhere from the "liberal" guess of $70/year to some more normal guesses at $770/year to the way right side of thousands of dollars based on energy consumption rates (which, let's face it, are increasing each year with all the new demands on our electric grid from iPods to computers to electric cars!). Speaking of electric cars, now we're going to have to pay more to buy these and then pay more to charge them! Wow. Some real genius behind this bill...

What's worse is that this morning, Rep. Waxman (D), who is the bill sponsor, added 300 PAGES of NEW CRAP to this "crap-and-trade" bill. Think anyone read 300 pages before they voted today? I'm guessing no, and I'm sure that this "theory" of mine is more accurate than a giant solar flare hitting the earth in 2012. But, that makes for better movies than common sense.

So, here's hoping that the defecting Democrats (30 of them) can influence some other moderate Democrats in the senate to ensure that a 60-40 vote doesn't occur, because, let's face it, while I'm all in favor of helping the environment, it shouldn't be a drain on my pocket. I already pay enough taxes.

    When Did Bias Become Journalism?

This morning on the NBC “Today” show, a little known “comedian” (and I use this term loosely) went on live television and stated “But, Sarah Palin to the GOP, this is what I've got to say, she is very much like herpes, she's not going away. Okay?”

A few weeks ago, two marines were shot at and one died outside a recruiting center by a black Muslim, but it was not the headline of the day or even week. What was? The assassination of a controversial “doctor” (again, using this term loosely) that has been compared to Martin Luther King Jr.! Last time I looked at history, Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t perform abortions during the third trimester.

How is it that the media has swung so far to the left and lost its objectivity to try and promote its own agenda? I’m glad to say that I don’t watch the “Today” show or buy into the idea that an abortionist is a martyr. But yet, these stories are the “headlines of the day!” and being shoved down our throats until we either a) become disenfranchised to what is presented to us or b) buy into a liberal brand of media that promotes a statist form of government.

How is it that thirty years ago, Laverne and Shirley were at the top of the ratings only now to see a plethora of “reality” shows that emphasize the decadence of our current society. (see: I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!) Instead of focusing on the morals and values that we SHOULD live by, we indulge in the trials and tribulations of others to make us feel better about ourselves. We have become a society of greed and ignorance to the values America was built upon.

I digress from the normalcy of this blog, but this travesty of focusing upon the “liberal” aspects of our society instead of upon the true horrors that are ongoing is something that needs to be addressed and confronted by the federal regulators of what is out there for our children to view. Remember the uproar of seeing a naked man’s butt on television less than a decade ago? Now it has become almost common place in the dramas and comedies that flood our televisions.

Gone is decent journalism and programming. Gone is the equality for stories of importance, for if the anointed one did not have a hand upon that story, you won’t hear about it on NBC, CBS or ABC. It’s already been well documented that a more favorable light was given to the anointed over McCain during the elections and it only continues today in dispersing his statist agenda until we either give in or decide to finally make a stand. I’m standing, America. You should too.
